Wuzhou?is an important trade and shipping center on the Guangxi-Guangdong border. The city has a variety of light and heavy industries, including textile mills, food-processing factories, and chemical plants. Generally speaking, the port’s total export value accounts one forth to one-third of that of Guangxi.

The environment for investment if fine in the city of Wuzhou. There is a luxury catamaran for passengers going back and forth between the city and Hong Kong and it rakes only 8hours. Land and water transportation is convenient. There is Grade B high-way between Nanning and Wuzhou. Besides, Grade 2 highways to, Liuzhou, Guilin and Zhaoqing ,and railways to Yulin and Lengshuitan are being built and planned; Xijiang River is being dredged and the port expanded; another passenger-ship will be added to the line between the city and Hong Kong, modernized harbours and docks are to be expanded of continuously built; Changzhou key water control project with generation capacity of 0.62 million kilowatts is prepared for construction.

The closest international airport is Guangzhou, about 4 hours by car or by bus.

The name sometimes appears as Wu-chou.
