Located in the old city area of East Riverbank in Wuzhou, it has 560 arcade houses, the characteristic buildings in the coastline area in the southeastern China, of which the longest one is 2,530 meters. The scale and number of arcade houses here are rare in China and the Arcade House City is regarded as a museum of arcade houses in China. Most of the arcade houses here have three or four stories, and the ones facing the street can be used as shops with the upper stories for people to live in. There are actually water gates on the second floor of the houses, so that residents in upper stories can go in and out of the house when the street is flooded. This design stems from the climate in southern China, characterized bu humidity, excessive rain and floods. Many representative Chinese architectural features are displayed in the outer appearance of arcade houses in Wuzhou, such as windows with carvings, brick carvings and archways, etc.
