When synthetic jewel industry in Wuzhou first kicked off in the form of a small school-run factories morn than 20 years ago, perhaps nobody could have predicted this attempt would become the cornerstone of the capital of the world’s synthetic jewels. Today, all through their tireless effort and by their own deft hands, the intelligent and diligent Wuzhou people have been building up the synthetic jewel industry into one of great vitality step by step.
In December, 2003, Sun Fengmin, Secretary-general of China Gemological Association commented in the Shanghai International Diamond Forum “ China has become the cutting and processing centre of the world’s synthetic jewels with Wuzhou in Guangxi as the national representative, which marked the transfer of processing and producing keystone of the world’s synthetic jewels to China.” This comment best described the outstanding position of Wuzhou in the world’s synthetic jewel industry.
A great number of jewel processing factories can be found all over the Wuzhou area, which process 6 billion jewels of more than 600 kinds and thousands of specifications annually. According to the statistics from China Gemological Association, currently the output of synthetic jewels in Wuzhou accounts for 80% of those in China and over 40% of those in the world.
Wuzhou has hereon become the world’s biggest collecting and distributing center of the synthetic jewel processing and trading. |
